Choir concert: Bach camber choir from Tokio, Japan

This concert is a part of the series «Cathedral of Light – The Sound of Summer in Tromsø with artists from around the world»

The Bach Kammerchor Tokyo will visit Norway to perform their program Prayer for Peace

The program features the joyful and virtuosic Fantasia in G Major (“Pièce d’Orgue”) and the motet Lobet den Herren alle Heiden by Johann Sebastian Bach. Alongside choral works by William Byrd and Heinrich Schütz, the choir will perform I himmelen by Edvard Grieg, as well as a contemporary Japanese choral work based on the poem Kamome

Founded in 1978 at the initiative of conductor Mitsuyoshi Katayama, the choir has cultivated a broad repertoire ranging from Gregorian chant to modern and contemporary sacred music. 

Nao Hirose (soprano & conductor) 
Nao Hirose was awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in Vocal Performance with distinction from the Faculty of Early Music at the Royal College of Music in 2002. The following year, she earned an Advanced Diploma, again graduating with distinction. 

Since completing her studies, she has appeared as a soloist in recitals and concerts throughout Britain and abroad, collaborating with various ensembles across Europe. In 2004, she received an Honourable Mention at the 18th International Early Music Competition in Yamanashi. 

With the ensemble La Sfera Musicale, she won first prize at the 18th International Early Music Competition in Yamanashi and received an Honourable Mention at the Bruges International Early Music Competition. 

Hisae Hosokawa (organist) 
Hisae Hosokawa graduated from and completed postgraduate studies at the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. She also graduated from the Conservatoire d’Orsay and Schola Cantorum de Paris, where she was awarded the Premier Prix. She studied organ with Masaaki Akimoto, Reiko Shimada, Michel Chapuis, and André Isoir. 

Since 2001, she has presented her own recital series in collaboration with artists from other performing disciplines. She has served as organist of the Bach Kammerchor Tokyo since 2004.

The ticket is included in the entrance fee of NOK 90
