The program includes Fratres and Spiegel im Spiegel, two incredibly beautiful works for violin and piano. In My Heart's in the Highlands, Pärt uses a poem by Robert Burns and combines the human voice with a solo organ part to create a wonderful duet.
His German setting of Our Lord's Prayer, Vater unser , is written for boy soprano and will be performed by a member of Ishavsguttene, the former boys' choir in Tromsø.
Thorsten Ahlrichs will also perform several organ works, including Annum per annum , in which Pärt uses the full range of the organ's timbres, repeating and embellishing one motif throughout the various movements.
Arvo Pärt's music, performed in the minimalist interior of the Arctic Cathedral, fits perfectly.
