Between heaven and earth – organ and saxophone concert

Hanna Dys – organ

Szymon Zawodny – saxophone soprano and alto

The duo Szymon Zawodny and Hanna Dys is a team that has been around since 2021. As colleagues from the Academy of Music in Gdańsk, where they teach daily, they decided to collaborate in order to intrigue audiences with a unique combination of the sound of the saxophone and the rich world of pipe organ colors. They are both deeply committed and passionate about music and perform extensively as a duo (so far in Poland, Germany and Finland), as well as solo and in various ensembles.

In January 2026, the duo performed a concert in the famous concert hall of the Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice (Poland) for an audience of 1,500, which was received with great enthusiasm.

The program Between Heaven and Earth is the duo's latest project aimed at music lovers and enthusiasts of various music. The concert's repertoire includes classical pieces for saxophone and organ, while breaking new ground and presenting both instruments in a slightly different convention. Thanks to the unique combination of the sound of the saxophone and the multitude of colors of the organ, the program has an original and expressive message.

It also includes compositions dedicated to the duo, inspired by the beauty and mystery of nature. The whole is like a mosaic composed of colourful, captivating and reflective melodies, often inspired by the harsh Nordic nature and the beauty of native landscapes.

Anna Ignatowicz-Glinska – Waiting for the northern lights (organ and alto sax)

Edvard Grieg – Morning mood/In the Hall of the Mountain King (organ solo) and Anitra's danse from the Peer Gynt suite op.46 (organ and alto sax)
