Thorsten Ahlrichs presents a program inspired by the sun, its light, and the unique ambiance of the midnight sun beneath the cathedral's soaring arches.
Featuring music from France, Norway, and Germany, the concert highlights the rich tonal palette of the cathedral's French symphonic-style Grønlund organ. Under Ahlrichs' skilled hands and feet, the instrument reveals its full expressive range—capturing both the brilliance and serenity of endless summer daylight in the far North.
The program includes:
- Sonata for Organ in C Minor by Felix Mendelssohn
- Hymn to the Sun by Max Dischner
- Cathedrals by Louis Vierne
- Toccata from Symphony No. 5 by Charles-Marie Widor
Thorsten Ahlrichs will offer a brief introduction to the programme, and the audience will be able to follow the performance visually via live projection from the console onto screens inside the church.
