Alexander de Bie – organ
Amsterdam, The Netherlands
The young concert organist Alexander de Bie presents a compelling and imaginative program that highlights both tradition and innovation. It opens with a Toccata on Nå la oss takke Gud by Egil Hovland, continues with selected Lyric Pieces by Edvard Grieg, and culminates in the dramatic overture to The Flying Dutchman by Richard Wagner. The program is further enriched by moments of improvisation, offering audiences a glimpse into the performer's spontaneity and creative voice.
Alexander de Bie grew up in Amsterdam in an environment shaped by classical music, where both organ and piano played central roles from early childhood. For him, music is more than sound—it is a means of storytelling, expression, and human connection. His artistic work is marked by a balance of technical precision and emotional depth, as he seeks to communicate both the great concert repertoire and contemporary music to a wide and diverse audience.
His musical training began with piano lessons from his father, Jack de Bie. He was soon admitted to the talent program at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague, where he studied organ with Jos van der Kooy, and later continued his piano studies with Nino Gvetadze at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. From 2020, he studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (MDW), specializing in concert organ with Professor Martin Haselböck and in concert piano with Professors Christopher Hinterhuber and Christoph Traxler. He completed bachelor's degrees in both piano and organ, graduating in organ with the highest distinction, summa cum laude . Since autumn 2025, he has been pursuing a master's degree in organ with Professor Dr. Martin Schmeding at the University of Music and Theater Leipzig.
