Vocal North

Vokal Nord is a chamber choir based in Tromsø, and is considered one of Norway's leading vocal ensembles.

In April you will hear Vokal Nord at its best! The choir is embarking on a tour around Senja, with a stop at Sørreisa and ending in their hometown Tromsø and the Arctic Cathedral.

For many years, Vokal Nord has built its identity by combining classical choral sound with vocal use associated with ethnic music from the highlands. In 2025, the choir commissioned new choral music inspired by Sami musical traditions, and the choir is looking forward to premiering the first result of this on this tour; A brand new work by Jan Sandström, based on a traditional joik from Snefjord!

In addition, you will hear new and old gems from the choir's core repertoire of classical acapella choral music, Nordic folk music and Sami-inspired music.
