How to register a wish for baptism?
To make the process easier for families, the churches in Tromsø offer electronic baptism registration. You can register your wish for baptism by filling out the form at the bottom of this page: kirken.tromso.no/dåp .
Alternatively, you can contact the church office by phone at 776 05090 (the switchboard is open Monday to Friday, 9 am-2 pm). NB! It is not possible to register a baptism by calling or sending an email directly to Tromsdalen Church or Tromsøysund Parish.
Important information before you register
Before filling out the form, it may be a good idea to have the following information ready:
- The child's information: Full name and social security number.
- Parents' information: Full name and social security number of mother and father (if paternity has been reported or is to be reported).
- Sponsor information: Full names of a minimum of two and a maximum of six sponsors. You do not need to provide the sponsors' date of birth, phone number or address.
Requirements for sponsors
- At least two godparents must be present during the baptism.
- Godparents must be at least 15 years old (or have started confirmation lessons).
- They must be members of the Church of Norway or another Christian denomination that accepts infant baptism.
Any questions about godparents are clarified in the baptismal conversation with the priest.
