Confirmation marks an important transition and gives young people the opportunity to explore their faith, community, and their own values. Ishavskatedralen welcomes all future confirmation candidates and their families to a meaningful and educational confirmation year.
There will also be an offer of a Sami confirmation service, common to Sami-speaking confirmands in Tromsø. This will be on Saturday, May 15th at 11:00 AM in Elverhøy Church .

What does confirmation mean?
Confirmation is more than a solemn celebration; it is a time for reflection, growth and learning. Through teaching, conversations and activities, the confirmands receive:
- Knowledge of Christian faith: They learn about the Bible, the creed, and the traditions of the church.
- Room for questions: Confirmation time gives young people room to explore faith and doubt in a safe community.
- Experiences: Confirmation camps, theme days and church services create memories and build community.
- Ceremony: Confirmation Day is a solemn service where the confirmands are prayed for and blessed.
We look forward to following you through the confirmation year and celebrating this special day together!
